As we near the start of another year it’s time to look back at the one just gone by. In the case of the annual audience vote that includes looking back on the best films of the year.
To vote for what you thought was the best film of 2025, simply go to this poll and vote from the dropdown list by 7pm on Wednesday 7th January. The top ten will then be revealed live on Somer Valley FM shortly after that, with a post following on this website.
The films featured are all sorted by UK release date – hence why the likes of The Brutalist, A Real Pain and A Complete Unknown are featured (January releases here) and Hamnet, Rental Family and No Other Choice (January 2026 releases) aren’t. As always, blame the way in which awards releases continue to for some reason work in the UK.
From blockbuster hits such as Superman, A Minecraft Movie and, the biggest film of the year, Ne Zha 2 to awards contenders like Sinners, One Battle After Another and Frankenstein 2025 cinema has certainly provided a good deal of variety. Not to mention looped soundtracks, including Wicked: For Good and chart sensation KPop Demon Hunters. Maybe you particularly remember a comedy like The Ballad Of Wallis Island or The Naked Gun, or the spectacle of F1 and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Whatever your film of the year is, to have your say all you have to do is vote, it should only take a minute or two to do so.
Thanks, as always, to everyone who votes and helps to spread the word about the poll! One again, the vote closes at 7pm on Wednesday 7th January with the results being announced shortly after here on the website and on the radio show.
